Abstract
The Vietnam Women's Union (VWU) rural electrification project demonstrates how photovoltaics (PV) can promote sustainable development in rural communities. The PV systems installed by the VWU in 30 domestic dwellings and 5 community centers have helped stimulate business and educational opportunities in the Mekong River Delta and in Northern Vietnam.
