Abstract

This report provides background information and detailed descriptions of four CSP-PV-BESS hybrid system techno-economic models from four SolarPACES member country research institutions (chapter 2). At the end of chapter 2, we draw comparisons between the four CSP hybrid system models. In chapter 3, we present the performance and financial assumptions used in the intercomparison case study including definitions for key design indicators (KDIs) and key performance indicators (KPIs). In chapter 4, we present the results from the intercomparison case study presenting a single system design comparison across all the CSP hybrid models. Additionally, we present the results of a design optimization study where each research institution generated a Pareto frontier of solar hybrid systems net present value (NPV) subject to a percentage of load met. In chapter 5, we present lessons learned from this model intercomparison and recommendations for system modeling of CSP hybrid systems. We conclude and summarize our work in chapter 6.
