Abstract
A 16%-thick, natural-laminar-flow airfoil, the S829, for the tip region of 20- to 40-meter-diameter, stall-regulated, horizontal-axis wind turbines has been designed and analyzed theoretically. The two primary objectives of restrained maximum lift, insensitive to roughness, and low profile drag have been achieved. The constraints on the pitching moment and the airfoil thickness have beensatisfied. The airfoil should exhibit a docile stall.
