Renewable Energy, Photovoltaic Systems Near Airfields: Electromagnetic Interference

  • United States Department of the Navy

Research output: NLRTechnical Report

Abstract

Sources of electromagnetic interference from photovoltaic (PV) systems are investigated, with a particular focus on civilian and military airfields. Previous studies have identified no risk or very low risk from siting PV systems or inverters near airfield communications equipment, given a reasonable setback (250-500'). The same recommendation is provided by this summary report.
