Abstract
This program is concerned with the investigation of the materials properties of CdTe thin films deposited by hot-wall vacuum evaporation and of CdTe single crystalline material, particularly those relevant to solar cell applications in which CdTe is the absorbing member. This report has three main sections: (a) an evaluation of CdTe homojunctions formed by HWVE of CdTe py Walter Huber at thelaboratory of Dr. Adolfo Lopez-Otero at the Institut fur Physik of the University of Linz, using single crystal p-type CdTe from Stanford as a substrate; (b) the design and construction of HWVE apparatus at Stanford; and (c) properties of grain boundaries in large grain polycrystalline CdTe.
