Abstract
This brief highlights one of NREL's 1995 R&D 100 Award winners, a new process for manufacturing silicon carbide powder. The process, which was developed under a three-year cooperative research and development agreement with Golden Technologies Company, makes possible the cost-effective mass production of ceramic components with high resistance to wear and corrosion. Ceramic components are usedfor a variety of applications ranging from paper manufacturing and automobile components to hardware for circuit manufacturing.
