Nanotomography for Pore Characterization

Abstract

Tomographic characterization can provide accurate data on 3-dimensional characteristics of pore morphology such as connectivity, tortuosity, and volume thickness. Nanotomography can resolve pores in the 200 nm - 50 micrometer size range. In this work, the pore and solid networks of direct reduced iron (DRI) pellets in various states of reduction were analyzed to provide quantitative characterization of their transformation during reduction from ore to metal, and the influence of different reducing conditions on morphological characteristics.
