Latest Development to Establish the World Reference with Traceability to SI Units for Measuring the Atmospheric Shortwave and Longwave Irradiance

Abstract

To date, Interim world reference traceable to blackbody (not sky/atmosphere) is used as a reference noted as a World Infrared Standard Group (WISG). Plan forward: to develop a reference standards traceable to SI InfraRed Integrating Sphere (IRIS) Developed by the World Radiation Center (PMOD) is traceable to blackbody irradiance. Absolute Cavity Pyrgeometer (ACP) developed by NLR is a self-calibrating radiometer using heat substitution to measure the atmospheric longwave irradiance. ACP is a contribution to develop the world reference with traceability to SI, using the outdoor irradiance as the source, instead of blackbody.
