Abstract
Recycling and disposal of spent sodium-sulfur (Na/S) batteries are important issues that must be addressed as part of the commercialization process of Na/S battery-powered electric vehciles. Part 1 of this report gives an overview of the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) and discusses RCRA regulations governing Na/S battery disposal (readers familiar with RCRA regulations may skippart 1 if they wish). Part 2 of this report contains a preliminary regulatory analysis for Na/S battery disposal.
