Abstract
The project is to commercialize a distribution function that replaces the steady-state assumption of time-series simulation, thus reducing the error and better-representing phenomena of interest to grid integration of variable resources. This improved accuracy is helpful to economic predictions but essential for resilient grid operations and control. The proposed distribution function has been evaluated by comparison to detailed data and also piloted on an actual project to demonstrate its application, indicating its technology maturity. Market relevance is achieved by incorporating this into leading complementary processes and existing tools. This CRADA is to commercialize this invention through a partnership between NLR and HOMER Energy Inc and a deliberate and structured process administered over 20 months by the software experts at HOMER Energy Inc. External experts may be involved in steering the design and evaluating the resulting software product. This Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) formalizes responsibilities and includes intellectual property provisions. The Joint Work Statement includes: 1) Plan Software Development Methodology; software architecture; activities planning and tracking- month 4; 2) Software Programming, Code Integration- month 14; 3) Software Testing-month 16; 4) Review and Testing by third party industry stakeholders, academics, labs, address policy/regulatory/standards- month 17; and 5) Product Launch and Outreach, Technical Assistance, educational activities- month 20.
