Abstract
This report summarizes the main results of the research effort under Phase II of this subcontract. In Section 2, researchers describe research on small-area solar cells including the use of a very high frequency (VHF) plasma for the deposition of high-quality microcrystalline p-layer materials; they also describe the research on wide-bandgap a-Si solar cells using high hydrogen dilution. InSection 3, researchers describe studies on large-area depositions using the large-area deposition of a-Si and a-SiGe films and solar cells, and the optimization of back-reflectors. All of the work related to the 5-MW production machine was carried out in collaboration with scientists at United Solar.
