Abstract

Major safety improvement efforts have been initiated at US Department of Energy national laboratories. These are supported by formal audits of the environmental, health, and safety programs. One self-appraisal was prepared by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory in Golden, CO, where toxic and hazardous gases are used to produce photovoltaic devices. This article summarizes the strategy implemented to prepare the safety analysis review and highlights the findings of the study.
