    Abstract

    Feature articles discuss the Interstate Clean Transportation Corridor, which will have 10 to 15 fueling sites set up along key highway routes in the West for clean-burning, heavy-duty alternative fuel vehicles by early 1997; the Midwest Ethanol Demonstration Project, which has been testing the performance of ethanol-fueled, heavy-duty trucks for emissions, mileage, and durability against that ofsimilarly configured diesel trucks; and the introduction by Caterpillar, Inc. of a new dual-fuel engine that combines the best features of diesel and alternative fuels, while providing operators with great flexibility.
