Overview
Personal Profile
Guido Bender is involved in R&D activities of polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM) fuel cells and water electrolysis. Bender has more than 15 years of experience in PEM fuel cell research and development and is the author of many journal and conference papers. He has broad research experience in fuel cell and electrolysis, including the development of spatial in-situ diagnostics, the development of quality control diagnostics for mass produced materials, the characterization of contaminant effects, and the characterization of performance and durability effects induced by coating inhomogeneities. Bender is an active contributor to the International Energy Agency’s Annex 30 and co-leads its benchmarking and protocol harmonization effort for PEM water electrolysis with domestic and international participants. Bender is managing the fuel cell and electrolysis testing capabilities at NLR, which offers small-scale single cell to large-scale stack testing capabilities. He is further a PI for water electrolysis related R&D.
