Personal Profile
Amy Allen is a senior research engineer in the Building and Energy System Integration group. Allen joined NLR in 2018. Allen's research interests include thermal energy networks and HVAC system energy efficiency. Allen has led and contributed to feasibility studies of thermal energy networks for a variety of applications, including college campuses and military installations. Allen is an experienced energy modeler and user of URBANopt, EnergyPlus, OpenStudio, and related tools. Allen has also contributed to designs of experimental systems, and measurement and verification of advanced HVAC technologies.

Professional Experience
From 2014 to 2017, Allen worked as a project engineer at kW Engineering in Oakland, California, where she performed energy audits of commercial buildings, carried out measurement and verification analysis for energy efficiency measures, and contributed to retro-commissioning projects.
