Personal Profile
Alex Schroeder serves as the laboratory program manager for transportation technologies, overseeing NLR’s research portfolio for the U.S. Department of Energy’s Transportation Technologies Office. He previously led a research group in NLR’s Center for Integrated Mobility Sciences focused on commercial vehicle technologies and the integration of transportation and the electric power system. During his tenure at NLR, he has held leadership roles spanning institutional planning, strategy, and partnership development. Notably, he served as interim executive director of the Joint Office of Energy and Transportation, which he helped establish, and supported more than $18 billion in federal energy and transportation investments. He also played an instrumental role in launching the U.S. Department of Energy’s Energy Efficient Mobility Systems program and working with the Department of Transportation to establish a nationwide network of alternative fuel corridors.
